Acute Appendicitis. . Unwarranted Sick-Leave Certificate

April 9th

Appendectomy performed successfully on my young patient, this p.m. No other noteworthy occurrence today. Booked-down a Caesarean Section - I shall be assisting Dr Nsisi tomorrow on this one.

O.k, a confession. I was solicited for an unwarranted sick-leave paper by this pretty female patient of mine; a Banker. Not the least bit ill, she only needed the time-off to travel out of the country for a brief, personal business dealing.

I obliged!

April 8th

A surgical incision through 7 layers of anterior abdominal wall, is what I shall be making on this young female patient tomorrow at Theatre,who suffers Acute Appendicitis.

This would bring me into her abdominal cavity, where upon I shall begin the manoeuvre of removing her infected, troubling Appendix.

Blog Neglect Blues... Herniorrhaphy That Went Like The Breeze.

I feel bad having not posted a single health gist or any sort of matter at all on this blog for a long, long while. And I cannot think of a good enough excuse that could justify this huge neglect. Except perhaps to promise you that my life in the past months had been roller-coaster like indeed, often having to multi-task in a not so well-coordinated manner - but then, doesn't that just describe the average human Joe or Jide that's surviving on todays planet Earth! I performed a Herniorrhapphy today that went like the breeze - quick-paced with little to no hitches. I started by utililizing local anaesthetic, then, after finding the hernial sac, finished off with Ketamine intravenous anaesthesia.

Vanishing Testes... Uterine Evacuation

I was mad with the father of a 10-year old whose child proved to have both his scrotal sacs empty - a case of bilateral Congenital Undescended Testes. The point is both parents had known for years the condition and were hoping against all hope that one day the testes would appear, never once thinking to seek medical advice. The poor young chap would have to visit the Paediatrics Surgeon soon. I'm just back from the labour room where I had to evacuate the womb of this married lady who began to bleed just a week after finding out she was in early pregnancy; she being childless till date - she's had a couple of miscarriages in the recent past and a scan today proved once again the same matter of a miscarriage with some products of pregnancy retained, hence the needed evacuation. She'll need to see the Gynaecologist for a thorough check, the poor woman.
